Story so far

Catch up on Hathor's journey before diving deeper.

Hathor is eternal but ever-changing. As one of the High Gods—the council of seven most powerful deities worshipped throughout Earth—she embodies life itself in all its forms: birth, growth, sexuality, motherhood, joy, music, and dance. Unlike gods who maintain singular forms, Hathor reincarnates as a different woman in each lifetime, experiencing humanity from countless perspectives across the ages.

She has been queens and peasants, warriors and healers, artists and scholars. Each incarnation brings unique personality and skills while retaining her core divine essence and accumulated wisdom. When one body dies, her consciousness transfers to a new vessel—sometimes an infant born with her mark, other times awakening in an adult who suddenly remembers millennia of existence.

Current Incarnation: Dr. Lyra Grey:

In this life, Hathor was born as Lyra to parents she genuinely loved in modern Egypt. She studied medicine, driven by an instinct to heal that she didn't yet understand. Working in a free clinic in Cairo, she treated the poor and desperate, her hands somehow always steadying, her presence always comforting in ways that went beyond medical training.

At 28, after obtaining her Masters and PhD her divine nature fully awakened during a lavish trip to Egypt with her friends where a plague-lord rose to seek her out. As hundreds died around her, something ancient stirred. Her hands glowed with golden light. The sick recovered. Plants bloomed in the hospital courtyard. She remembered—not just this life, but all of them. She remembered being Hathor.

Meeting Richard Grey:

At 30, while still processing her awakening, Lyra encountered an Abranteer Knight investigating a suspected cult (which was actually just her unauthorized healing work attracting desperate followers). Richard "Rook" Grey arrived expecting to find a rogue magic user. Instead, he found someone who understood the weight of duty, the burden of power, and the loneliness of knowing too much.

They spoke for hours—about life, death, protection, and sacrifice. For the first time in any incarnation, Hathor felt truly seen. Not worshipped as a goddess, not treated as a threat, but recognized as an equal carrying an impossible burden.

She revealed her true nature, expecting him to report her to the Abranteers or flee in terror. He did neither. Instead, he found a solution: she would register as a consultant, providing intelligence on divine matters while maintaining operational security. The arrangement satisfied duty and love simultaneously.

When Richard became Warden, it gave them free reins to do all their missions together. Richard doesn't know that her godly favour was likely involved in his position - but even she couldn't prove it.

While researching more about her old life, they learn about the Earthguard. When the memory of this organisation came back to her, she was very conflicted. She had married an immortal warrior and fought along his side in over a hundred of her different lifetimes. Tohazie couldn't die... and the two had sworn to find each other in every lifetime... She realised that she had met him in this lifetime already - he was a gentle stranger. He was very nice to her but didn't want to progress things with her when she expressed interest. He had said smiled and said he'd be waiting, and never showed up again. Lyra decided she would resist the urge to seek him out... But Richard couldn't help himself as he was fascinated by the Earthguard and wanted to reform it. Lyra chose to remain hidden, and when Richard went to ask, Tohazie declined to join, but gave Richard his blessing to create it without him.

A great event occurred which led Richard and Lyra to end up with a son of their own. They named Randy. He was neither a god like her nor a human like Richard. He was something else. A piece of the Sealed Scroll—an alien artifact of immense power—was implanted in his left arm as an infant (the circumstances remain classified). Hathor told him it was surgery for his health, a half-truth that haunted her.

Raising Randy while Richard served as Warden required balancing divine wisdom with human parenting. She couldn't simply use godly power to solve Richard's problems—he needed to be his own man

When her husband assembled the Third Earthguard to face cosmic threats, Hathor stood beside him without hesitation. She left Earth with the team to confront an invasion fleet in deep space, trusting Randy to find his own path (which he did, eventually leading the Fourth Earthguard).
